The next fundraising event will be an Indian dinner at The Cinnamon Club in Leederville on Tuesday 27 March at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start.
Reserve the date in your diary now so you don't miss out catching up with past and current volunteers.
More details will be circulated closer to the event.
Equal Health's Film Night - We Bought a Zoo
Thank you to everyone who attended the Equal Health Movie on 18 January.
The night was a great success with 98 people attending and from the feedback we received, it seems everyone enjoyed themselves:
"It was a great night. It's always enjoyable getting together with such a friendly bunch! Well done to the fundraising committee!"
"It was a great night! Enjoyed the film and enjoyed catching up with everyone, including volunteers from previous camps. Happy to see that they are still supporting Equal Health! To the Fundraising Committee, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! You did a fantastic job!!! The chocolate chip cookies were yummy!!!"
"Looking forward to the next one."
We were able to raise in excess of $700. Thank you very much for your support. You can take a look at some photos on Facebook.
The funds raised will help bring sight to the blind, relief from dental pain, freedom of movement and improved health to people in developing countries, who would generally not have access to multi-disciplinary health care.
Equal Health fundraising challenge
Who will be the next state to host a fundraising activity this year? Are there any states that are willing to rise to the challenge? With Christmas just around the corner, it is a great time to catch up with your Equal Health friends as well as raise much needed funds for Equal Health.
Equal Health fundraising event 2011 - Melbourne
We have received the news that Victoria is unable to host a fundraising activity in 2011, but the plan is to hold an event early in 2012.
If you are interested in assisting or attending please contact Sue Strachan on 03 9873 3536 or straoptm@bigpond.net.au.
2011 Equal Health Quiz Night
Over 250 people enjoyed a fun packed evening of seamless comparing, auctions and plenty of brain twisting questions at the Subiaco Football Club on 20 May. The significant contribution from our supporters made the evening a successful event.
Equal Health raised over $9,000 from the event. The funds raised will help bring lasting change to some of the world's most vulnerable people through free access to health care.
Thank you to all our sponsors for their generous support.

Volunteer Stories

Perth Team Pre-Departure Brunch
A couple of Sundays before their departure, the Perth Equal Health team, with their family and friends, experienced a little taste of southern India at a pre-departure brunch at Annalakshmi, an Indian restaurant overlooking the beautiful Swan River.
India Camp Coordinator, Paul Clarke, gave a brief overview of the India Camp with some interesting/funny anecdotes before the Perth volunteers enjoyed getting to know one another and hear stories from previous volunteers while enjoying the tasty food. Quite a few of the new volunteers were introduced to the mango lassi (yoghurt based drink) and it proved particularly popular.
Melbourne Pre-Departure Team Dinner
Once again we held a pre-India Melbourne team dinner a couple of weeks before our trip. Our venue was a centrally located restaurant, Indian of course, to get us all in the mood (with a few bottles of Kingfisher to help!).
Our group was a good mix of 'oldies' and 'newbies'. Both groups were equally keen to talk about India - always a great opportunity for the returning team members to show photos to genuinely interested people who at this stage are wanting to know lots of details about the coming adventure.
A fun night was had by all and it was great to be able to recognise faces rather than just blue t-shirts when we met at Tullamarine two weeks later!
