Lauren trades banking to change lives in India

Karrinyup Beyond Bank Branch Manager, Lauren Parry, will trade banking business for the business of caring for some of India's most vulnerable people when she makes her first trip to India next month.

Lauren is looking forward to giving up her time to volunteer and will assist the optical team in Trichy. Beyond Bank is sponsoring Lauren to volunteer, and she will be utilising her Community Leave Days, another way Beyond Bank demonstrates giving back to the community. At the same time Beyond Bank is supporting Equal Health, who has a strong banking relationship with Beyond Bank.

Two Beyond Bank staff members have volunteered on previous trips, and Karrinyup Branch nominated Equal Health as the bank's Charity of Choice in 2013.

For Lauren, the experience is a unique opportunity to participate in a worthy cause that can make a lasting and profound difference to people's lives.

"I'm looking forward to experiencing first-hand the result of Beyond Bank's fundraising efforts. Beyond Bank Karrinyup members bought chocolates to support Equal Health and donated money in a donation box if they wanted to," said Lauren.

"My commitment to the Equal Health Fundraising Committee was also a very rewarding 12 months of hard work, with this I will take much pride in the benefits we will deliver to the communities.

"I'm sure my time in India will be life changing for both myself and the people who will receive the free health care.

"It is amazing to think that for the price of a cup of coffee a day, we can have the funds to deliver immediate health care to 120 people who generally would not have access to these services.

"At Beyond Bank, we believe that a bank should do more than just manage money. That's why we're committed to helping organisations that support the community. Organisations like Equal Health are invaluable, enriching people's lives with the people in India and the wonderful committed volunteers. As a result, we aim to assist you in any way we can," she said.

Beyond Bank offers a product to customers called the Community Reward Account which is an everyday, at-call savings account which provides the nominated not-for-profit organisation with a 'community bonus' payment.
